You might be excited by the prospect of a day trip but not really have anywhere in mind you’d like to take a coach for an entire day. While you can certainly hire the coach for just a stop or two, you may have more fun if you make a day of it. With that in mind, we’ve put together a few day trip ideas that may inspire you to book a coach.
Art Excursion
Start with the Angel of the North for a little appetizer of the artwork to come. This majestic statue brings in thousands of visitors to Newcastle each year. Then the Great North Museum: Hancock will get the juices flowing, with tons of biological exhibits and ancient artefacts from around the world. The main event is the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. It hosts a massive collection of modern art that changes regularly. The most significant artists of our day showcase their latest works here, making it a must see for art lovers.
Family Trip
If you are looking for a family day trip from Newcastle, then you may want to start with the Castle Keep. The ancient fort is sure to excite the youngsters who dream of living in castle. They can also get a great view of the rest of the NewcastleGateshead area from the top of the building.
From there, we recommend travelling to the Life Science Centre for an experience unlike any other. Numerous exhibits help to educate children in a fun way and offer plenty of interesting things for adults to experience as well. One sure-fire hit for the whole family there is the 4D ride that’s a motion simulator. You can also enjoy the planetarium and other great experiences there.
Finally, we suggest finishing the day off with some shopping at the intu Metrocentre. This is the largest shopping centre in the area, and it features an Imax cinema, a host of great places to eat and of course, plenty of shops to spend the day exploring.
